JOB TITLE: Radiation Oncology Technologist

JOB SUMMARY:
The Radiation Oncology Technologist delivers ionizing radiation to the patient in accordance with the prescription and instruction of the Radiation Oncologist. This individual is trained and capable of performing patient care for the age groups: 0 to 105 years old.
The Radiation Oncology Technologist reports directly to Radiation Oncology Chief Technologist and the Director of Oncology Services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
a.) Satisfactory completion of radiologic technology training and radiation therapy
training in an AMA approved school.
- Licensure/Certification:
a.) Be registered by the ARRT in Radiation Therapy.
b.) BLS certification.
- Work Experience:
a.) None.
RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES:
- Responsible for accurately delivering the prescribed radiation course. Responsible for observing radiation safety measures for both patient and personnel according to department policies, state and federal standards.
- Responsible for maintaining daily treatment records. Responsible for maintaining daily supplies. Responsible for simulation procedures. Responsible for accurately recording all dosimetry data.
- Responsible for observing and monitoring any reactions and reporting to the Chief Technologist and/or Radiation Oncologist. Monitors and reports equipment malfunctions to the Chief Technologist.
- Maintains professional communication between other personnel, physicians, patients and their families. Responsible for scheduling daily treatments and assures that the schedule is carried out.
- Responsible for continuing education in accordance with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
