CJOB SUMMARY:
The RN / GN must have the skill and knowledge to provide population specific care. He/She must have the ability to assess, evaluate, identify, and interpret the requirement and needs of 2the patients and perform based on those findings.
This individual is trained and capable of performing patient care for the age groups newborn to 102 years old.
The RN / GN reports directly to Charge Nurse/Team Lead/Manager/Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
RN graduate of Accredited School of Nursing.
Licensure/Certification:
Must have a valid, current license by the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required.
Upon hire or within first year of employment

Work Experience:
Successful completion of hospital orientation.
RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES:
- Communicate effectively with the patients, families, and with the health care team
- Holds self and other staff members accountable and responsible for work performance and continuous improvement of patients in his/her work are and throughout the hospital
- Ensures self-compliance with professional, regulatory, and government standards of care.
- Understand and ability to use the medical equipment and supplies used in the department.
- Provide guidance and provide appropriate patient care to all ages, in addition to accountability for care provided by LPN’s and CNA’s.
- Documentation of care in the EMR, that is accurate and detailed of the patient’s care and conditions. This includes making sure care plan is appropriate.
- Deliver non-biased care to all patients and families
- Carry out orders indicated by physician/care provider or protocol
- Scan and administer medications to patients and monitor for side effects
- Competently care for medical emergencies when they arise
- Ability to handle emergency and crisis situations
- Provide protection of medical record and maintain HIPPA compliance
- Monitor for changes in medical condition by assessments and notify physician if appropriate
- Demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the patient populations within the department
- Labor and Delivery
- Clean and restock all labor and delivery areas, completing shift checklist, and monthly cleaning log.
- Prepare patients for all scheduled procedures.
- Caring for antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients
- Circulate Cesarean Sections.
- Perform PACU on spinal/epidural anesthesia cesarean patients.
- Pain management for all patients including epidural anesthesia.
- Pre-Op patients for cesarean section.
- Performing both scheduled and unscheduled obstetric triage.
- Caring for postpartum women in the first two period after delivery.
- Educating and coaching patients and families.
- Fetal heart & Contraction monitoring for patients in the department or in another department with intrauterine resuscitation guidelines when indicated.
- Maintain a sterile environment.
- Completing admission, discharge, and transfer of patients when indicated.
NICU
- Clean and restock all NICU and Nursery areas, completing shift checklist, and monthly cleaning log.
- Provide education for all procedures and obtain consent.
- Prepare newborns for all procedures and provide care following procedures.
- Perform all necessary assessments, screenings, and education for newborns required during hospital stay.
- Completing admission, discharge and transfer of patients when indicated.
- Caring for all newborns including well newborns and NICU level. newborns, in addition to any newborns at risk for complications.
- Performing any necessary resuscitation or stabilizing interventions when indicated.
Women’s Health and Newborn Care
- Clean and prepare all rooms, complete shift checklists, and monthly cleaning log.
- Care for postpartum women, newborns, GYNs, and
- medical/surgical overflow patients.
- Completing admission, discharge, or transfer of patients when indicated.
- Other duties as assigned.
