JOB TITLE: Stereotactic Mammographer

JOB SUMMARY:
The Stereotactic Mammographer performs stereotactic mammography procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. The stereotactic mammographer performs procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative while utilizing sterile technique to perform stereotactic breast biopsies. Assumes responsibility for designated areas of procedures as required. Responsible for consultation and assisting physicians during stereotactic procedures. The individual is trained and a graduate from a certified Radiologic training program and capable of performing patient care for the age groups: 0-105 years old.
The Stereotactic Mammographer reports directly to the Director of Radiology.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Education:
a.) High school graduate or equivalent.
b.) Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved school.
2. Licensure/Certification:
a.) Entry level Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
b.) Must obtain mammography certification within 6 months of the start of mammography and/or stereotactic procedure employment.
3. Work Experience:
a.) 1-year mammography and stereotactic breast biopsy experience preferred.
b.) Currently meets FDA qualifications for performing mammography.
RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES:
1. Responsible for performing stereotactic breast biopsies; performing and maintaining QC on the stereotactic system as required by the FDA, the ACR and the State of Missouri; overseeing stereotactic system maintenance and calibration and communicating information to the Director of Radiology and physicist if necessary; stocking and ordering of supplies; responsible for RIS functions as they relate to stereotactic procedures; assisting physicians with procedures as required.
2. Responsible for patient, peer, and personal safety; Responsible for communicating information about patient examinations, schedule, patient's condition and equipment to the appropriate individual.
3. Responsible for inter and intra Departmental relations. Responsible for maintaining professional communication.
4. Responsible for conservation of supplies. Responsible for operation of radiographic equipment and processors and reporting problems appropriately.
5. Perform other duties as assigned.
