JOB SUMMARY:
The Ultrasound Technologist performs ultrasound imaging studies as directed by a physician’s order. The technologist must be capable of performing patient care for age groups 0 to 105 years old.
The Ultrasound Technologist reports directly to Ultrasound Chief Technologist.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Graduate of accredited Ultrasound program.
- Must be registered in Diagnostic Ultrasound either by ARDMS or ARRT.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Certification in Ultrasound Technology by the ARDMS or ARRT is required.
- Work Experience:
- Prefer a minimum of 2 years of experience as a staff technologist, and possesses capabilities as determined to be adequate by the department head.
RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES:
- Responsible for applying proper techniques and patient positioning to produce high quality ultrasound images.
- Responsible for on call procedures.
- Responsible for assisting physicians with procedures.
- Ensures operation of ultrasound equipment by following manufacturer’s instructions and calling for repairs when needed.
- Assists with maintaining necessary supplies in the department.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with all policies, rules, and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
