Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Attendant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a strong understanding of animal behavior. This role involves providing daily care for dogs and other animals, ensuring their well-being, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. The Kennel Assistant will work closely with our veterinary staff and other team members to support the needs of our furry clients.
Duties
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, watering, and exercising them.
- Clean and maintain kennel areas, ensuring a hygienic environment for all animals.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to the veterinary staff.
- Assist with grooming tasks such as bathing, brushing, and nail trimming.
- Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques when necessary.
- Ensuring pets receive appropriate attention and care.
- Assist in training dogs using positive reinforcement methods when applicable.
- Maintain accurate records of animal care activities and any observed health issues.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure high standards of animal welfare.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in animal care or handling is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
- Knowledge of pet grooming techniques is a plus.
- Familiarity with veterinary assistant duties or experience as a veterinary technician is advantageous.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required (up to 40 pounds).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Compassionate attitude towards animals and commitment to their welfare.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends or holidays if necessary.
