We are now hiring Structures Laborers! This position will be responsible for performing various duties on underground wet utility construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Follows direction of Foreman as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite
- Digs, spreads, and levels construction materials
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required
- Assist with the installation of underground wet utilities, concrete structures, curb, and gutter
- Building forms, setting structures, pour/finish concrete, and strip/patch
- Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and materials with shovel
- Assist with the install of plates, rebar, and wire, insulation, lifters, reveals, and anchors
- Prep a Construct, erect, install and repair structures and fixtures made from wood by measuring, cutting, and shaping wood, plastic, and other material.
- Finish product in an attractive manner free of cracks and imperfections
- May be called upon to run small power tools such as jack hammer.
- Other duties as assigned
Safety
- Responsible for ensuring OSHA standards and company safety policies are complied with at all times including but not limited to operation of tools, equipment, and machinery
- Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately
- Ensures a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task
- Properly follows all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment
- Reports any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 3-4 years experience working in an outdoor construction environment, preferably with water or sewer utilities
- Ability to use various tools properly and safely including but not limited to skill saws, flat saws, core drills and wall saws, hammer, sledgehammer, and engineer’s tape
- Must have basic carpentry skills
- Must be able to work in confined spaces
- Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to listen and comprehend instructions accurately to learn products, processes, safety procedures, installation techniques and equipment use
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, including whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
