DescriptionJob Overview : Join our team as an Operating Room RN Manager at Boulder Surgery Center, specializing in orthopedic surgeries. The ideal candidate will plan, organize, direct, and evaluate nursing care and personnel management for the OR and Sterile Processing departments. They will manage the overall nursing care in the operating room to maintain a safe and comfortable environment. In addition, they will oversee sterile processing, ensuring a sterile environment in the operating rooms. They will assist with the development, implementation, and monitoring of policies and procedures, evaluate the performance of operating room personnel, and ensure that staff receive appropriate training and continuing education.Department : SurgeryReports to : Clinical DirectorSupervises : OR RN Staff, Surgical Technologists, Sterile Processing Technicians, Radiological TechnologistSchedule / Type : FT ExemptWage : $93,600.00-$135,200.00 per year, commensurate with experienceBonus Eligibility : YesEssential Duties : Estimated 60% assuming direct patient care assignment.Estimated 40% managerial administrative related activities.Provide direct patient care as needed.Oversee staffing to ensure adequate coverage for Registered Nurses, Surgical Scrub Technicians, Sterile Processing Staff, and Radiology Technicians.Implement and monitor compliance with patient care and professional standards.Lead the development of policies, procedures, protocols, and tasks to deliver care aligned with the latest healthcare standards.Follow AORN (Association of Operating Room Nurses) and AAMI (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instruments) recommended practices and standards.Assign nursing care based on patient needs, nursing staff qualifications, and available resources.Perform and monitor quality control checks, surveillance, month-end reports, and other tasks as directed.Assist with maintaining employee health records and personnel files.Manage personnel and expenses within budgetary expectations.Develop unit staffing patterns and schedules to provide efficient and consistent nursing care, meeting budgetary and patient acuity requirements.Assist with staff development and education.Build and maintain effective relationships with physicians, colleagues, and other teams within the center.Demonstrate effective verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills.Establish and maintain communication systems for information sharing, planning, and problem-solving with unit staff, medical staff, other departments, center administration, and the clinical director.Collaborate with HR to interview and hire personnel.Supervise and evaluate personnel performance.Initiate corrective action and discipline when appropriate.Develop, coordinate, and continually evaluate a department orientation program.Monitor new employees' progress throughout orientation and provide support as needed.Review and revise facility policies and procedures regularly.Complete payroll corrections electronically and in writing.Facilitate efficient surgery scheduling and communicate with physicians / surgeons to confirm instrument, supply, or equipment needs.Coordinate anesthesia provider coverage.Meet or exceed established O.R. room turnover time standards.Oversee sterile processing practices and infection prevention measures.Determine staffing needs and recruit, interview, and hire staff.Conduct team meetings and document summaries for record-keeping.Support the goals, values, philosophies, and objectives of the center while maintaining compliance with service excellence standards.Participate in the Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement Committee or other assigned committees.Manage patient complaints and grievances, escalating as needed.Foster an environment and culture that supports safe, high-quality patient care.Perform other duties as assigned.Education and Experience : 5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse with Operating Room experience required; additional scrub experience preferred.3 years of progressive management experience.Experience in outpatient orthopedic surgery preferred.3 years of experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center with knowledge of ASC regulatory requirements (AAAHC or TJC preferred).Knowledge of aseptic technique, advanced medical technology, electronic health records, and sophisticated medical equipment.ACLS and BLS certifications required;
