Job Summary:
Under general supervision, ensures the safety of members and their guests by preventing and responding to emergencies. You will also ensure the pool area is kept at the highest standard for members and guests.
Job Responsibilities:
As a lifeguard, your primary responsibility is to prevent drowning and other injuries from occurring in or around the pools at BCC. This will be done in the following ways:
Monitoring activities in and near the water through patron surveillance.
Preventing injuries by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations or behaviors.
Enforcing facility rules and regulations and educating patrons about them.
Recognizing and responding quickly and effectively to all emergencies.
Administering first aid and CPR within the standard of care outlined for American Red Cross Lifeguards, including using an automated external defibrillator (AED) and administering emergency oxygen when needed.
Politely enforces and adheres to pool rules and BCC House Rules of Conduct.
Inspects the facility daily and hourly and reports any unsafe conditions or equipment to the supervisor.
Maintains a courteous, polite, and helpful relationship with all members and coworkers.
Always presents a professional appearance and attitude and maintains a courteous, polite, and helpful relationship with all members and their guests.
Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Attends required bi-monthly in-service training sessions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be at least 16 years of age.
Willing to work 15 - 40 hours per week outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
Previous Lifeguard experience preferred.
Strong swimming skills.
Required Certifications
American Red Cross LGT / CPR & AED for the Professional Rescuer
Physical Requirements
Complete American Red Cross lifeguarding course prerequisites.
Swim a minimum distance of 300 yards once a week.
Easily lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
