Chief Financial Officer
Our Business Office is an integral part of BCD’s preschool - 8th grade school community. We firmly believe that a strong business environment is among our greatest assets to help ensure that our school has the resources to support our students’ intellectual, social, and emotional development.
The CFO will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and financial management of BCD’s business office. This position requires a hands-on and collaborative manager with proven experience in strategic non-profit accounting. The Business Office works in partnership with the school’s leadership team and other members of the faculty and staff providing support for financial decision making.
Responsibilities
- Oversees and manages the overall function of the Business Office, including :
Implementing internal controls,
Managing resource allocation and procurement,Managing debt covenants and investments,Managing Tax Filings,Contract review and management of contractsProvides supervision and support to the Accounting Manager, IT team, Facilities team, and oversight of the dining services contract. Ensures these functions are efficient in supporting the needs of BCD’s faculty and staff.Manages the annual audit processMaintains the tuition management system and related tuition revenue recognition policies and A / RCollaborates with Development team to reconcile capital campaign gifts, general donations and ensure compliance with GAAPOversees annual budget preparation; monitors and communicates progress and changes against the budget and forecasting resultsOversees risk management activities, including primary point of contact for property liability policiesServes as point person for oversight of campus safety and security programOversees processes that overlap with HR such as payroll and benefitsAssumes responsibility of schoolwide strategic leadership of financesPresents and Reports to the Board of Trustees / Finance Board / Development CommitteeRepresents school at national and state levelsEstablishes Policies and Procedures for areas of responsibilityOther duties as assigned by Head of SchoolRequired Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in accountingA minimum of seven years of accounting experienceNonprofit accounting experienceHigh professional and ethical standards for handling confidential dataExperience with QuickBooksExperience managing others and working across departmentsStrategic thinker with the ability to execute strategy by managing multiple business operations processesEffective communication and collaboration skillsTeam player; open minded, flexible, and reflectiveStrong commitment to cultivating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive school communityPreferred Qualifications
