Boulder County Parks and Open Space Department is seeking to hire two (2) Education & Outreach Seasonals. The work primarily focuses on being an ambassador for Boulder County by engaging with the public to communicate the department’s management activities, information about local natural resources, and recreational opportunities. These positions will advance our commitment that open space is for everyone, and that visitors, volunteers, and staff reflect our community. Each seasonal will take a leadership role in a departmental project. Each position will spend approximately half of their time outdoors, while their remaining time will be spent on various projects, computer, and desk work. These positions will work with a dynamic Education & Outreach staff at Parks and Open Space. It will include working across teams and with volunteers.
These are seasonal, hourly, non-benefited positions that will work 40 hours per week, Wednesday - Sunday 8:00am - 4:30pm. These positions requires potential hours outside of typical work hours, due to special events or projects. These positions will work out of 5201 St. Vrain Road, Longmont, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, these positions are non-exempt.
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

Examples of Duties
- Conduct informal interpretation in open space areas by hiking trails and staffing trailhead displays
- Provide formal interpretation through shelter talks, school programs, and public programs including both environmental education and living history programs
- Coordinate and manage volunteers that will assist with educational programming
- Oversee our festival booths by creating displays and interacting with the public at these events
- Create written communications including social media posts, magazine articles, program descriptions, and educational materials and curriculum
- Support staff in the creation and cataloguing of resources, activities, and curriculum including maintaining interpretative supplies, inventory tracking, and the creation of new educational displays
- Drive volunteers and participants in 12-passenger vans (training provided) to help lead open space work projects, programs, and community engagement events
- Provide assistance at Volunteer Work Projects
- Performs related work, as required
- May be reassigned during emergency situations
