Boulder County Public Works Department is seeking to hire a Building Services Operations Supervisor. The Building Services Maintenance Operations Supervisor is a supervisory level classification in the Maintenance series. The Building Service Maintenance Operations Supervisor performs variety supervisory, administrative and technical duties with responsibility for directing the work of multiple building maintenance crews at multiple sites, requiring independent judgment and thorough knowledge of departmental operations, in the development and maintenance of county buildings and grounds.
This is a full-time, benefited position that will work Monday-Friday 6am to 2:30pm. This position will work out of 2525 13th Street Boulder, CO. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is non - exempt.
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
Hiring Salary Range: $75,984.00 - $92,736.00 Annually

- Supervises Building Services Maintenance Foremen and crews at multiple sites
- Plans, organizes, assigns, reviews and inspects the work of maintenance and grounds employees in accordance with established standard operating procedures
- Plans, organizes and reviews the work performed by outside contractors
- Implements preventive/routine maintenance and improvement projects on properties administered by the Building Services Department
- Monitors, repairs and adjusts building control system to ensure systems are operating properly and efficiently as possible
- Performs skilled duties in maintaining and repairs of building equipment including HVAC, boilers, chillers, plumbing and electrical systems
- Performs and supervises snow removal operations for multiple sites
- Performs skilled duties in the operation and maintenance of hand tools, power tools and equipment
- Conducts performance evaluations, counsels employees concerning performance and recommends personnel actions in the areas of hiring, promotion, discipline and termination
- Plans and schedules training and safety courses for staff
- May be required to respond to emergencies after hours
- Performs related duties, as required
- May be reassigned in emergency situations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
7-10 years commercial building maintenance in a government setting.
5 years as a supervisor with oversite of multiple buildings and staff.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Thorough knowledge of the use of materials, equipment and procedures necessary for maintaining large commercial buildings and landscape
- Thorough knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to large commercial buildings and landscape maintenance
- Thorough knowledge of county and department values, policy and procedures
- Skilled in supervision, leadership and the ability to work effectively with other employees, agencies and the public
- Thorough knowledge and practices of green building materials and methods for the care and maintenance of facilities, the management of energy efficient systems and recycling of waste
- Skilled in diagnosing/troubleshooting and repairing equipment associated with large commercial buildings
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, schematics and MSDS information

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Back and Upper Body (lifting)
Frequently lift 1-10 lb. tools and materials above head.
Frequently lift from floor to waist with one hand 10-50 lb. power tools, equipment, and supplies. Occasionally lift 100 lb. bags of ice melt with another employee (two man lift) from chest height to floor or the reverse.
Occasionally lift items weighing 40-100 lbs.
Operate large power equipment weighing 100 lbs. or more.
Hands/Arms
Occasional plumbing work necessitates working with large 25 lb. wrenches, which requires lifting from floor to waist height with two hands.
Frequently grip, twist, pull, push, lift, swing and operate a variety of hand tools, power tools and equipment.
Use finger dexterity to access, enter and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, calculator and operate tools and equipment.
Body Movement
Constant walking and stair climbing.
Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling, standing, and working from ladders on heights from 4-12 ft. in height.
Frequently handle shovels; 20 lb. pry bars, and 8 lb. sledgehammers.
Occasional shoveling, pushing, pulling and working from ladders, scaffolding or lift equipment 12 ft. high or higher.
Frequently work with hands and arms reaching overhead.
Must be able to read printed materials and a computer screen.
Must have the ability to differentiate wires and other items by color.
Hearing and Speech
Must be able to communicate in person, over the telephone and/or by two-way radio.
