The Boulder County Fairgrounds is seeking to hire a Bilingual Fairgrounds Technician II. The Bilingual Fairgrounds Technician II is a specialist level in the Fairgrounds technician series. The Bilingual Fairgrounds Technician II performs a variety of skilled, semi-skilled duties, requiring independent judgment and thorough knowledge in the development, event preparation and maintenance of the Boulder County Fairgrounds facilities.

This is a full-time, benefited position that will work Tuesday - Saturday from 2pm - 10:30pm. This position will work at the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont, CO.  Under FLSA guidelines, this position is non-exempt (eligible for overtime).

Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

 

Hiring Salary Range: $53,988.00 - $65,874.00 Annually

 

Tentative Hiring Timeline: 

  • First Round Interviews: Week of February 10th
  • Language Proficiency Test: Week of February 10th
  • Reference Check: Week of February 17th

 

New employees receive an80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month. Boulder County offers bountiful benefits, including pension contributions.

  1. Interacts with the public and tenants/users with a goal to establish excellent user relationships.
  2. Assists in all emergency evacuation processes and events during declared emergencies/disasters.
  3. Ensures all grounds, buildings and properties are safe, clean and maintained.
  4. Recognizes and troubleshoots facility issues with electrical, plumbing and HVAC.
  5. Performs preventative maintenance and repairs.
  6. Performs Janitorial duties daily.
  7. Ensures equine facilities footing is maintained and prepared for all disciplines of equestrian activities and multi-use purposes including K-9, livestock, and vehicle uses.
  8. Ensures all Zero Waste procedures and initiatives are followed.
  9. Snow removal operations, heavy equipment operations, small and handheld equipment operations are required.
  10. Assists in support of contracted events
  11. Serves as an after-hours emergency responder as necessary.
  12. Tracks and maintains records of campground guests.
  13. Perform repairs valves, pipes, drains, sinks, commodes, faucets and related equipment.
  14. Performs related duties, as required.
  15. May be reassigned in emergency situations.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: 

Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of 2 years of combined education and experience.

BILINGUAL SKILLS: 

  • Applicants must demonstrate English and Spanish fluency at the time of the pre-employment screening process. Spanish language proficiency will be determined through standardized demonstration. 
    • Additional compensation will be provided based on the use of bilingual skills.

PREFERRED QUALFICIATIONS:
  • Ability to work in high stress situations while multi-tasking.
  • Ability to understand and uphold contracts for meetings, conferences, conventions, recreation, competitive events and entertainment functions.
  • Knowledge of the use of materials, equipment and procedures necessary for grounds and building maintenance.
  • Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to facility and grounds maintenance.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of large facility, buildings and grounds maintenance.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of the operation of a multi-use, year-round facility such as an Event Center and entertainment complex hosting fairs, rodeos, equestrian shows, minor sporting events, concerts, trade shows, conventions, expositions and meetings.

Physical Requirements:
• Back and Upper Body:
Occasionally mows with self-propelled 135 or 175 lb. power mower or cut weeds with 15 lb. power weed whacker (supported with harness), moving from side to side. Occasionally shovels dirt and gravel and digs holes for posts using clam digger and or 19 lb. digging bar. Occasionally lift 43 lb. T-port driver (two man lift with handles) shoulder height to drive metal fence posts. Occasionally lift (two-person lift) eighty-pound cement bags and carry to work site. Occasionally lift and position with assistance ramps to allow tractor loading and unloading from trailer. Occasionally lift and operate two handed 60 lb. jackhammer to break rock. Occasionally picks up and removes trash. Must lift 40 lb. trash bag from ground level to truck bed height of 42 inches (could be two-person lift).
• Hands and Arms:
Occasionally operate 2-3 lb. hand pruners held overhead. Occasionally operate 15 lb. chain saw with two hands. Requires fine motor dexterity to adjust and maintain power equipment.
• Body Movement:
Frequently must walk over uneven, rough terrain either pushing, pulling, or carrying equipment. Requires agility to maneuver over limbs, branches, creeks, boulders, etc. Frequently requires ability to sit and drive tractor while looking back. Occasionally kneel on angled surfaces and do work on the ground.
