Boulder County Community Services Department is seeking to hire 2 Head Start Classroom Substitute. Assist teacher in all functions and duties related to the maintenance of a safe appropriate early childhood classroom and learning environment; deliver learning materials to parents, meet for home visits and conferences with families, conduct screenings and assessments with children; and assist in working with classroom families to support their participation in the Head Start program.
This is a hourly, non-benefited position that will work (10-20 hours per week), on call, as needed Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm. The Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) school calendar is followed. This position will work out of 2802 Dagny Way Lafayette, 2850 Mapleton Ave Boulder, and 2675 Mapleton Ave, Boulder Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is non-exempt (eligible for overtime).
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
2024 Hiring Salary Range: $23.23 Hourly
2025 Hiring Salary Range: $24.04 Hourly

Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional related education may count towards required experience.

- Phone Screening: Weekly
- First Round Interviews: Weekly
- Reference Check: Weekly
- Helping children with classroom activities
- Actively monitor children indoors or outdoors
- Engage and play with children in an appropriate manner
- Help classroom teachers with cleaning and other duties
- Prep lunch and deliver to classrooms
- Clean dishes from classrooms after mealtimes
- Clean kitchen
- Performs related work, as required
- May be reassigned during emergency situations

- A job offer is contingent on passing a background investigation with fingerprinting
- Candidates for this position will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment physical
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Additional compensation will be provided based on the use of bilingual skills.

- One year (1,820 hours) of verified experience with preschool children, preferred
- Ability to use a computer with basic skills in Microsoft Office Products and internet-based assessment system or willingness to learn
- Ability to work as a part of a team, channeling communications appropriately
- Ability to relate well to children and adults from diverse backgrounds
