Boulder County Human Resources (HR) Department is seeking a dynamic and experienced HR Employee Relations Business Partner to join our team!

About the Role
The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is a journey-level classification. This position performs a variety of complex professional human resources duties and works with a considerable degree of independent judgment and decision-making. This position reports to a Senior HR Business Partner and Employee Relations Manager in the employee relations division and performs related work for the entire organization.

Hiring Range $68,976.00 - $84,138.00 Annually

  1. Supports employees and supervisors with employee relations, performance management, coaching, and internal processes and policies
  2. Provides technical Human Resources assistance to employees and the general public as needed
  3. Reviews and implements process improvements with a racial equity lens
  4. Utilizes data analysis and Excel skills to make data-driven decisions
  5. Assists with disciplinary review, including editing disciplinary documents and coordinating data collection as well as reviewing and recommending personnel actions in the areas of hiring, discipline and termination of County staff
  6. May participate in interview panels and guide hiring managers in the inclusive hiring process
  7. May teach and guide supervisors in employee relations processes and learning opportunities
  8. May perform job audits and make classification recommendations to HR managers
  9. May develop strategies for employee relations processes
  10. Completes special projects as assigned
  11. May present and/or teach policies and procedures or other content both virtually and in-person.
  12. May develop content for training delivery
  13. Performs related work, as required
  14. May be reassigned during emergency situations

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • 6 years of combined education and experience in a related human resources filed
  • 1 year of employee relations (examples: coaching, mediation, labor relations, and workplace investigations) experience. 
  • Additional related education may count towards required experience.

Work Conditions

This is a full-time, benefited position that works primarily remote with an average of one day per month in-office with onsite options at 1755 S. Public Rd., Lafayette or 2025 14th St., Boulder. This position will work Monday – Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm, with some flexibility available regarding schedule. Under FLSA guidelines, this position is exempt.

Pre-Employment Requirements

  • Must pass a conditional post-offer background check.
  • Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook) during the pre-employment screening process.
  • Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years of experience in employee relations (examples: coaching, mediation, labor relations and workplace investigations).
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
    1. Additional compensation will be provided based on the use of bilingual skills. 

 Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of the principles, methods, and practices of human resources management, including pertinent employment laws
  • Ability to effectively develop and sustain cooperative and collaborative working relationships, demonstrating sound judgment, diplomacy, and tact, including the ability to work with multiple cultures in the workplace effectively
  • Demonstrated skill in fostering effective and strategic relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrated skill in active listening, appreciative inquiry, and process management
  • Strong technical skill in utilizing data from multiple systems to make sound decisions
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Excel
