What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Services Caseworker and Bilingual Casework position at Boulder County?
Boulder County Housing and Human Services Department is seeking to hire a Casework B and Bilingual Caseworker B. This role performs a variety of complex professional social work duties in Human Services Department Program areas such as child abuse and neglect, youth-in-conflict, adults unable to protect their own interests, recruitment and supervision of foster homes and placement into foster and adoptive homes. This is an office based position that will perform a variety of complex professional social work duties in the Human Services Department program area specific to child protective services. There is substantial independent field work meeting the children and families.
This is a full-time, benefited position, that will work, Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm. This is a hybrid position, will work out of 3460 Broadway Street, Boulder, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is exempt.
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
2025 Hiring Salary Range: $62,520.00 -$76,284.00 Annually
Tentative Hiring Timeline:
Phone Screening: Week of March 3rd

Reference Check: Week of March 17th

- Conducts investigations of alleged child abuse and neglect
- Assesses and evaluates child safety and family and caregiver strengths and needs
- Counsels and supports children and families to create safe and stable environments
- Determines if children should be placed outside the home, monitors foster care placement and makes recommendations related to child safety and return hom
- Prepares legal documents and testifies in court
- Completes required documentation and compliance activities to support work
- Performs related work as required
- May be reassigned in emergency situations

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a higher education institution with coursework related to the job responsibilities of child welfare social caseworker and one year of combined education and experience in a related field.
*Course work examples can include and are not limited to, the development of human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures or therapeutic techniques.
Additional related education may count towards required experience.
BILINGUAL SKILLS (for bilingual required position):

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's Degree services or related field
- Experience in child protection
- Colorado casework certification.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Working knowledge of the theories, principles and concepts of social casework practice
- Knowledge of community resources and agency rules and procedures related to assigned program area
- Skill in interviewing techniques and crisis intervention methods
- Ability to write reports concisely
- Ability to work effectively with other employees, clients, agencies and the public
