Boulder County Clerk and Recorders Office is seeking to hire a Motor Vehicle Title Clerk (Bilingual). The Boulder County Clerk and Recorder's (C&R) Office provides the best in public service through its three divisions: Motor Vehicle, Recording, and Elections. We have an outstanding reputation in fulfilling this mission, and we are seeking a Bilingual (Spanish) Motor Vehicle Title Clerk who will bring a passion for public service to ensure excellent service for our citizens. The Motor Vehicle Division is responsible for the accurate titling and registering of all Boulder County vehicles and issuing disability placards. We are team of 52 staff with three different branch locations: Boulder, Longmont, and Lafayette. This position will work in the Longmont branch and may be required to work in other branches as needed. The ideal candidate loves working with the public in a team environment, collaborating with other staff to deliver excellent service and maintain high standards while having fun. In addition, the ideal candidate demonstrates accountability for meeting job duties; a willingness to find ways to assist the public while ensuring compliance standards are met; experience with data entry; close attention to detail; ability to quickly learn and apply complex rules and regulations; and enjoyment of rule/statute-oriented work duties. Commitment to ensuring we provide services to community members who have historically been excluded is vital to fulfilling our mission of providing the best in public service. This person must be committed to building a culture where individuals from any background can be successful, which includes ongoing work around disrupting patterns, systems, and behaviors of inequity and exclusion. This is a full-time, benefited position that will work, Monday - Thursday 7:00am - 5:30pm. This position will work out of the Longmont Clerk & Recorder Motor Vehicle located at 529 Coffman St. Longmont, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is non-exempt (eligible for overtime). 

Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

Hiring Salary Range: $50,004.00 - $55,506.00 Annually

Tentative Hiring Timeline:

  • Phone Screening: Week of February 17th
  • First Round Interviews: Week of February 24th
  • Second Round Interviews: March 3rd
  • Language Proficiency Test: March 28th
  • Reference Check: March 28th

 New employees receive an 80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month (Must not have been employed at Boulder County during the 12 months prior to re-hire date to qualify). Boulder County offers bountiful benefits, including pension contributions.

  1. Ensure compliance with state statute and rules as well as C&R processes and policies for areas of responsibility
  2. Assist the public with vehicle title and registration procedures, asking questions to determine the appropriate course of action
  3. Assist the public in person, by email, and on the phone, providing information that requires interpretation of state statutes, rules, and regulations
  4. Demonstrate skillful public relations when working with the public
  5. Complete vehicle identification number (VIN) inspections
  6. Balance cash drawer each day correctly
  7. Process mail and time stamp mortgage documents
  8. Log and track all incoming and outgoing documents using a specialized tracking system
  9. Follows and suggests revisions to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  10. Assist with special projects
  11. Conduct self in a professional manner and work as an effective team member
  12. Participate in regular meetings with supervisor, contributing ideas, concerns, and solutions
  13. Participate in regular staff meetings by bringing positive, solution-focused ideas while celebrating the team’s successes
  14. Demonstrate the values of our office and contribute new ideas to enhance these values: equity and inclusion, service, stewardship, collaboration, accountability, integrity, alignment, and teaming
  15. Travel between the three branches to work may be required
  16. Additional duties as required
  17. Performs related work, as required
  18. May be reassigned during emergency situations

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of a high school diploma, or equivalent and two years of office experience, which may include retail, restaurants, and bankingAdditional related education may count towards required experience.

BILINGUAL SKILLS:

  • Applicants must demonstrate English and Spanish fluency at the time of the pre-employment screening process. Spanish language proficiency will be determined through standardized demonstration.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office 365
  • Data entry skills
  • Basic math skills

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to research and interpret statute, rule, policy and reference materials.
  • Able to assist members of the public all day while maintaining a positive attitude
