Job Summary : The Teen Librarian provides programs and services that appeal to teens and primarily works in the teen and children’s areas. The Librarian provides reference and reader’s advisory services, oversees a teen advisory board, assists teens with conducting research, provides technical support, and contributes to collection maintenance.
This position is a full-time, exempt, at-will 40-hour-per-week position.
Essential Functions :
- Provides reference, reader’s advisory, technology, research databases, and library account assistance to patrons at public service desks and by phone, which may be in the call center and throughout the library. (25%)
- Provides leadership for planning, promoting, implementing, and evaluating programs for teen patrons. (25%)
- Develops and coordinates outreach events at middle and high schools and other community organizations. Assists with securing program funds from funding sources. (20%)
- Advances teen engagement with the library by guiding a Teen Advisory Board, eliciting teen input on library materials, programs, and services, and recruiting teen volunteers. Collaborates with peers and other colleagues with expertise in serving teens. (15%)
- Collects teen services-related statistical information and prepares reports, including teen space usage, circulation statistics for teen materials, and attendance at teen programs. (15%)

Wednesdays : 10 AM - 6 : 30 PM
Thursdays : 10 : 30 AM - 7 PM
Fridays : 8 : 30 AM - 5 PM
Saturday : 8 : 30 AM - 5 PM

Working Conditions :
Primarily physical work with repetitive handling of items, frequent walking and standing, occasional lifting of items up to 40 pounds, and occasional pushing of wheeled carts over 100 pounds. Work may include extended periods of viewing a computer monitor and operating a keyboard. Requires sufficient manual dexterity that permits the employee to operate a computer, office, and library equipment. Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes permit the employee to work in a multilevel facility. Seeing, hearing, and speaking are required.
