Summary:
ESY will run FULL DAYS for 7 hours Monday through Thursday, from June 2nd through June 26th, 2025. (There are no classes on Thursday, June 19th). All ESY staff must be available for the entirety of ESY programming as well as required training dates on 5/28 and 5/29 in order to be considered. PTO is not available during the summer.
The Halcyon Special Skills Aide works with students at the Halcyon school ranging in ages from elementary to 12th grade plus (up to age 21). The SSA provides support and direct instruction to students in the classroom, campus and community settings. The students at the Halcyon School are placed through a District IEP process and are all facing challenges with mental health and emotional issues.
Responsibilities:
- Work with classroom teachers to provide academic and affective supports in the classroom setting.
- Provides coverage for the classroom while the teacher is attending to the needs of others.
- Works directly with individual or small groups of students on academic tasks that are teacher directed.
- Supports students with individual behavioral tasks and specific programming in conjunction with their IEP or Behavior Support Plans.
- Supports students in crisis - providing redirection, supervision and this intervention may occur on or off campus.
- May administer First Aid, CPR and/or utilize CPI interventions for a student in crisis.
- Work with students and staff implementing the school wide Specialized Classroom Management program.
- Work with co-workers to create and sustain a collaborative, supportive, positive and teamwork oriented work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completed and submitted BVSD online application
- Communicate (read, write and speak) in English
- Minimum of one year experience working with people with disabilities
Preferred:
- Bilingual ability (Spanish/English)
- Experience working with youth with a variety of disabilities, adult service agencies and community resources, or similar experience
- Computer skills, training or teaching experience and flexibility in scheduling work hours

Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
