Job Overview: Join our team at the Boulder Centre of Orthopedics as a true PRN Sterile Processing Technician! As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficacy of medical procedures by meticulously cleaning, sterilizing, and preparing medical equipment and instruments. Operating within our esteemed orthopedic facility, you'll work on an as-needed basis, often stepping in to cover shifts during peak periods or staff shortages.

Schedule/Type: PRN/hourly - as needed
Wage: $18.00-32.00/hr, commensurate with experience

Requirements
Essential Duties:
- Decontaminate, clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical devices according to protocols.
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage before and after sterilization.
- Maintain accurate records of sterile supplies, monitor inventory, and restock as necessary.
- Perform maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of sterilization equipment.
- Adhere to regulatory guidelines and document sterilization processes, quality checks, and equipment maintenance.
- Collaborate with operating room staff to fulfill equipment requests and ensure timely delivery of sterile instruments.
- Follow safety protocols to minimize infection risk and properly handle biohazardous materials.
- Stay updated on sterilization techniques and regulations through training and professional development.
- Respond promptly to urgent requests for sterilized equipment during emergencies.t.
Skills
- Possess knowledge and skills in the decontamination and sterilization of surgical instruments, adhering to strict protocols.
- Exhibit strong organizational skills and attention to detail in sterile processing.
- Understand instrument vocabulary and use for accurate identification and handling.
- Plan, prepare, and manage the reprocessing of instruments efficiently.
- Handle sterile and contaminated articles properly to minimize exposure risks.
- Quickly identify instruments related to surgical sets and recognize any omissions.
- Display advanced technical knowledge of equipment and quality control supplies.
- Use the Instrument Tracking Information System for record keeping and inventory management.
- Maintain vigilance in record keeping for equipment monitoring.
- Consistently apply hand hygiene and aseptic techniques in patient care.
Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- SPD Certification (Strongly preferred)
- Knowledge and/or experience with surgical instrument management.
- Familiarity with sterilization techniques and autoclave use.
