The Youth Programs Coordinator is responsible for supporting and developing all aspects of youth programming at Seattle Bouldering Project, including curriculum, budget, marketing, and staffing. This role includes working closely with the General Manager and Assistant GM to maintain, support, and develop behind-the-scenes programs administration, and providing exemplary leadership through direct instruction of programs. Effective communication with staff, management, gym guests, youth participants, and families is at the core of the position. The Youth Programs Coordinator will model excellent instruction and customer service, support the growth of programs instructors through feedback and coaching, and manage Youth Programs labor and financial budgets.

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND DIRECTION
- Initiate continued development of fun and innovative programming and curricula for children.
- Communicate with participants, parents, staff, and instructors to ensure quality programming
- Oversee and supervise Youth Program activities.
- Attend session starts, events, and debrief courses with Youth Programs instructors to ensure program quality and support staff development.
- Engage in outreach efforts with schools, camps, and other youth-centered organizations to continuously expose new groups of kids to climbing.
- Collaborate with scheduling managers to schedule staff via organized, economical, and efficient staffing systems.
- Hire and train youth program staff.
- Maintain employee motivation and job satisfaction via dynamic leadership and support.
- Communicate with staff to understand availability and share scheduling.
- Maintain discipline and professionalism among staff.
- Ensure staff quality by participating in assessment and evaluation.
- Communicate with managers, coordinators and staff, as needed, to ensure staff quality.
- Develop and maintain organized, clean, and efficient logistics, registration, and payment systems.
- Ensure that facilities and equipment remain clean, functioning, and high quality
- Introduce and maintain staff support tools.
- Collaborate with U District and Market leadership teams to build cohesive and comprehensive programming.
- Work with the GM/AGM and the management team on decisions that impact the staff, community and gym.
- Connect with each department to support each other and create the best experience for all users.
- Collaborate with the Head Setter and Assistant Headsetter to maintain appropriate climbing for youth programs.
- Establish partnerships within the U district community to improve camp programming.
- Serve as staff lead (with General Manager and key staff) to support Risk Management in Youth Programs.
- Support incident reporting and reviews, safety reviews, emergency scenarios, and policy-writing.
- Act as Incident leader in an emergency.
- Ensure all programs have sufficient emergency support through systems and notification sequences
- Occasionally serve as Operations Specialist, Coach, Programs Staff, or other roles as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Availability during camp hours, weekends, and evenings as needed, but scheduled ahead of time
- Experience working with youth, preferably in a climbing environment
- Effective communication and leadership skills
- High energy, team oriented, organized, and strong customer service
- Competency with Approach software is a plus!
- Many duties require the availability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs and events, including possible evenings and weekends.
- Duties often occur before and after regular business hours.

- 15-20 hours available March-May as Youth Coordinator
- 30 hours available June-August while camp is in session
- September and beyond will be PT and subject to business needs
- There is opportunity to work in the gym in other capacities and at a different rate of pay as business needs allow
Salary : $26 - $32
