YOUTH TEAM COACH
The SBP Youth Climbing Team Coach will be responsible for the collaborative implementation of curriculum for the competitive SBP Youth Climbing Team. With oversight and direction from the Head Coach, this role involves facilitating practices designed to support youth climbers in their development as athletes. Youth Climbing Team Coach will contribute to forwarding the goals and mission of the SBP Youth Programs as an integral part of the Seattle Bouldering Project, as well as extend the facility’s reach into elite level performance climbing.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
\n- Work collaboratively with coaches, Head Coach, and managers to implement climbing and training curriculum. This will include weekly coaching sessions, as well as travel and coaching at competitions.
- With support and oversight from managers, implement individual coaching strategies for each youth on the competitive climbing team.
- Collaborate and communicate proactively with the Head Coach regarding each climber’s development, as well as any safety or health concerns.
- Participate as appropriate in travel and regional/regional/national/world competitions.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Supervise youth climbers during practices and competitions, while modeling BP values and appropriate adult support and motivation.
- Serve as peer support and collaborator with co-coaches at practices and events.
- Respond proactively to injuries, accidents, or incidents following the Safety Manual and Protocol, ensuring proper documentation of incidents via the incident reporting log
- Strict attention to creating an environment that centers respect, consent, and youth development
- Ensure that all customers using the facility have a waiver on file and are aware of the rules and regulations of the facility
- Youth coach role may include climbing and forerunning boulders in relation to youth team training and competitions
- Work closely and communicate well with all staff members and managers
- Work closely with and report directly to the Head Coach
- Interact frequently with members and customers
- Must appropriately represent Seattle Bouldering Project in all of these capacities
- Conducting oneself with professionalism is a vital part of the position with a high percentage of time devoted to youth, parents, and innumerable community member

WORKING CONDITIONS
Able to be flexible in working hours: weekday, weekends, and evenings required. Schedule varies throughout the entire year with some months of minimal work and others including coaching, travel, and competitions.
