Job Summary:
The benefits coordinator position assists employees with benefits enrollment and questions, verifies all insurance billing, maintains employee database and files, and ensures compliance with required benefit notices. Will assist the HR Manager in administering, evaluating, and maintaining corporate benefits programs.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Administer various employee benefits programs, such as group health, dental, vision, short term disability, long term disability, life insurance, and 401(k).
- Review benefit eligibility for new hires and rehires based on specific plan rules and date contained in employees' record, update information accurately and achieve deadlines.
- Process FMLA in accordance with Federal and State regulations as well as company policy. Submit Short Term Disability claims concurrent with FMLA when applicable.
- Educate and respond to benefits related inquiries including COBRA and Qualifying Events. Contact the corresponding benefit provider to resolve coverage issues.
- Monitor employee benefits and ensure benefits enrollment are entered appropriately, partner with Payroll to achieve accuracy with deductions.
- Audit monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies, identify and resolve billing discrepancies with the carrier representatives.
- Assist Human Resources Manager in the renewal process, support planning and arrangement of company's annual benefits open enrollment.
- Monitor Open Enrollment elections, provide managers with status report by location.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and current applicable laws.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Fluent in Spanish is required.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED and two years of experience in employee benefits administration or Human Resources.
Physical Requirements:
- Sedentary, prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer, walking, occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending, frequent near vision use for reading and computer use.
