What are the responsibilities and job description for the Victim Advocate position at Boundary County Victim Services?
General Duties of Advocates:
- Provide support, information, and referral services to victims and their immediate families, witnesses and survivors.
- Work with law enforcement to provide for the immediate safety of victims of violence and their children.
- Provide education on Victim Rights and safety planning.
- Provide assistance with restitution calculations, applications to Crime Victim Compensation, impact statements, and Civil Protection Order Petitions.
- Provide justice system education and court escort.
- Follow grant guidelines as supplied by Executive Director.
- Assist with Support Group.
- Educate community on Victim Rights, Child Abuse Awareness, Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Prevention and other topics relevant to our scope of work.
- Obtain a minimum of 20 hours of continuing education annually (40 hours required in the first year) to assist in acquiring and increasing knowledge and skills needed to fulfill job responsibilities.

Qualifications:
- Associates degree or higher preferred; high school diploma or GED required
- Minimum one (1) year work experience in a related field preferred
- Ability to pass a Criminal History Background Check required
- Ability to complete mandatory new advocate training and necessary continuing education within a timely manner
- Demonstrated computer proficiency required (skills demonstration required for Word and Excel)
- Ability to uphold and demonstrate the Essential Qualities outlined below required
