What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse (RN) $10,000 Sign-On Bonus! position at Boundary Waters Care Center?
The staff nurse will assist in planning, directing, and participation in providing appropriate resident services and other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing. Administer medication & treatments in accordance to facility procedure and accepted nursing standards as per physician orders. Assure that the status of each resident's medication regimen is accurately documented. Recognize signs & symptoms of change of condition & reports all changes in a timely manner.
Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Must be able to make independent decisions in the best interest of the residents and the organization. Must be a current Registered Nurse in the state of Minnesota.
KEY POSITION SPECIFIC ROLES & RESPONSIBILTIES
Clinical Processes & Procedures
o Ensure that resident’s charts are updated and free of errors.
o Openly communicate with the Medical Director and DON relating to resident diagnoses and treatment plans.
o Assist with continuing education meetings for nursing staff.
o Collaborate with the clinical team in establishing a treatment plan.
o Coordinates the treatment plan for short term clients which may include completions of the RAI assessment, care plan development, facilitating care conferences and summarizing clinical team interventions; provides appropriate oral or written documentation to external payer.
o Provide direct resident care following the treatment plan, this may include tasks such as administering medication, etc.
Staffing
o Makes walking rounds between shifts and whenever necessary to supervise and monitor work performance in terms of resident care, staff regulations and efficiency of service.
Survey Readiness
o Report occupational exposures to needle sticks, blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals in accordance with facility policy and procedures governing accidents and incidents.
o Participates in all inspections of nursing care by outside agencies.
o Complete all documentation as recommended by Federal and State Guidelines.
o Ensure that reportable events are communicated in a timely fashion.
o Ensure that nursing notes are informative and complete regarding the cares and services
Unit Management
o Listen to shift report and keep open lines of communication with supervisor, co-workers and on-coming shift.
o Attend nurses and team meetings as scheduled and/or assigned.
o Maintain professional relationships with physicians and other providers.
o Respond to all emergency situations within the facility.
o Promote rehabilitation nursing on the units.
o Perform physical and psychological nursing assessments on residents when necessary.
o Report all unusual circumstances that may involve the safety and well-being of the residents and staff directly to the DON.
o Demonstrate leadership ability and management skills through fair decision making, dependability and reasonable expectations.
o Act as House Supervisor at prescribed times.
Performs other duties as assigned.
