POSITION DESCRIPTION FOR:
Educational Consultant/Advocate
- INTRODUCTION
This is the description for the position of Educational Advocate for Boundless Expectations Inc. (BEI). This person is responsible for providing non-legal consultation and advocacy to parents or guardians of students within the public or private school system in order to help obtain the necessary educational plans, services, and accommodations to narrow educational gaps and move the student toward their potential. Responsibilities include reviewing all existing student data and student plans, analyzing student data to interpret student strengths and struggles, document creation for clients and/or school personnel, conducting strategy session meetings, attending educational meetings, and advocating for the student's best interest.
- REQUIREMENTS
The Educational Advocate in this position must possess:
- A degree in Special Education or relevant experience in an educational field of practice
- Communication skills, both oral and written
- Availability to work a flexible schedule with before, during, and/or after school hours.
Desired:
- A degree or experience in specialized educational programs
- A degree or experience with learning disabilities

- MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful Educational Advocate in this position shall accomplish the following:
- Develop or comment on intervention strategies, tutoring plans, individualized education plans (IEPs), or 504 plans for students.
- Communicate accurately and timely with students and their families to ensure a continuous school-family partnership.
- Evaluate student progress, including academic assessment and behavioral data.
- Keep accurate records of student, parent, staff, and school documents and contracts.
- Participate in stakeholder school conferences to develop student action plans.
- Support a positive school and educational climate while interacting with students, families, staff, and community members.
- Maintain confidentiality when dealing with students, families, staff, and community members.
- Participate in staff meetings with BEI leadership.
- HOURS OF WORK, SALARY/LEAVE/BENEFITS
The Educational Advocate will be hired as a 1099-MISC Independent Contractor. The number of hours and work schedule will be dependent on the number and availability of students. The Educational Advocate will be fully responsible for scheduling, transportation, and timekeeping. Invoices will be submitted on a monthly basis and will be payable within 30 days. BEI will provide confidential meeting space for consultation. Computer resources will be provided by the Educational Advocate.
