The Senior Director, Digital & AI will play a key role by delivering hands-on, high-quality work while contributing to the agency’s digital, omnichannel, and AI strategies. This role is responsible for executing client-facing and internal initiatives, ensuring seamless project delivery, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. The Senior Director will also help implement and optimize omnichannel, and digital strategies in alignment with client objectives, leveraging advanced analytics to deliver measurable results for our clients while fostering collaboration across the agency’s teams.

The Senior Director, Digital & AI will focus on the hands-on execution of omnichannel and digital strategies across client accounts. This individual will collaborate with internal teams to deliver high-impact work, handle day-to-day project management, and ensure that initiatives align with broader company goals. The Senior Director will be instrumental in driving the tactical execution of digital transformation and support the VP in shaping strategy for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device clients. This role requires an expert-level understanding of the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device industries, as well as proficiency with the latest omnichannel and digital marketing technologies. Additionally, the Senior Director will be responsible for mentoring and managing their team to ensure they are high-functioning, fostering a collaborative, results-driven environment.

Responsibilities

Hands-on Leadership and Digital Innovation:

  • Lead the tactical execution of omnichannel and digital marketing strategies, ensuring innovative approaches to omnichannel marketing, media planning, and social media integration.
  • Collaborate with the VP and internal teams to drive digital innovation, leveraging emerging technologies and tools to meet client objectives.
  • Ensure alignment of omnichannel and digital strategies with client goals, maintaining a balance between strategic oversight and day-to-day campaign management.
  • Oversee the implementation of omnichannel and digital solutions, ensuring that all deliverables meet quality standards and drive measurable business results.

Execution Of Healthcare Strategies

  • Implement omnichannel and digital that address healthcare-specific challenges such as patient compliance, HCP engagement, stakeholder response, among others. Ensure these strategies integrate seamlessly across omnichannel marketing and are tailored to individual stakeholder segments based on content and channel preferences across owned, earned, paid, online, and offline channels.
  • Ensure data-driven approaches by utilizing key data sources such as EHR/EMR systems, ICD-9/ICD-10 and CPT codes, predictive analytics, clinical trial data, and insights from HCP and patient journeys, among others.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of digital platforms and AI technologies, staying up to speed on the latest advancements and recommending new platforms to enhance agency capabilities and client solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal and client teams to execute strategies aligned with the unique needs of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device sectors.

AI Integration And Optimization

  • Leverage AI technologies such as generative AI and predictive analytics to enhance healthcare marketing strategies.
  • Identify opportunities for AI optimization within client campaigns, using AI-driven insights for targeting, segmentation, personalization, and overall campaign performance, as well as internal efficiencies and process optimization.

Campaign Management In Pharma And Biotech

  • Oversee hands-on management of digital advertising and omnichannel campaigns, ensuring seamless execution across programmatic advertising, social media, and CRM platforms.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, GDPR, PII, FDA guidelines, med/legal compliance, and OPDP 2253 submissions, while maintaining privacy standards and ethical AI use in all campaigns.

Performance Tracking And Data Insights

  • Assist in the development of KPI frameworks to track campaign performance across all digital channels, ensuring metrics are aligned with client business objectives.
  • Utilize analytics and data-driven insights to continuously optimize campaigns, SEO, leveraging AI, CRM data, and HCP/patient segmentation to drive better targeting and improved ROI.
  • Monitor and analyze campaign data, delivering detailed analytics reports, presentations, and actionable recommendations to internal teams and clients, with the goal of continually improving performance and efficiency.

Team Collaboration And Project Delivery

  • Work closely with other internal teams to align strategic initiatives with the agency’s overall goals.
  • Support operational excellence by ensuring seamless execution of projects and optimizing internal processes.
  • Be an excellent communicator with superior soft skills, enabling effective collaboration across teams and fostering strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Team Development And Mentorship

  • Mentor and develop junior staff, ensuring they stay at the forefront of digital and AI technologies.
  • Foster collaboration across digital, medical, marketing, and creative teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Client Engagement And Support

  • Assist in client-facing activities, offering strategic insights, building relationships, and ensuring the successful execution of digital strategies.
  • Work alongside the VP to identify opportunities for organic growth and new business development.

Qualifications

  • 8 years of experience working in a pharmaceutical marketing agency, with hands-on involvement in developing omnichannel and digital strategies for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device clients (experience with generative AI a plus).
  • Strong experience with CRM systems, such as Veeva, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and understanding of analytics tools like Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager.
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry regulations, including HIPAA, FDA compliance (e.g., FDA 2253 submissions), and the unique challenges associated with patient and HCP engagement in highly regulated environments.
  • A proven leader with excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and lead high-functioning teams.
  • Possess generative AI prompting skills (no data science required).
