About the Role
The Government Affairs Manager II will lead Instacart’s state and local government affairs in the western region of the United States, overseeing engagement with state and local elected officials and other key stakeholders. The Government Affairs Manager II will report directly to the Director of Government Affairs for the U.S. and Canada. We prefer this person to be based in Sacramento, CA, though other locations within California can be considered.

About the Job
- Build and maintain relationships with key policymakers and other influential state and local government-oriented stakeholders
- Educate state and local policymakers on the value of Instacart’s business to their constituents and the e-commerce landscape
- Craft and execute legislative, regulatory, and political strategies to achieve state and local policy goals
- Prepare for relevant hearings and state and local regulatory proceedings
- Represent Instacart in western regional trade associations and industry coalitions
- Build third party political, advocacy and industry allies to support strategic policy objectives
- Collaborate with the other pillars of the PGA team – Policy Research and Development, Public Engagement, and Federal Affairs to drive key legislative strategies forward
- Monitor legislation and regulatory matters and advise the company with respect to policy challenges
- Manage external consultants to help execute comprehensive strategies

Instacart provides highly market-competitive compensation and benefits in each location where our employees work. This role is remote and the base pay range for a successful candidate is dependent on their permanent work location.
For US based candidates, the base pay ranges for a successful candidate are listed below.
CA, NY, CT, NJ : $180,000 — $200,000 USD
WA : $173,000 — $192,000 USD
OR, DE, ME, MA, MD, NH, RI, VT, DC, PA, VA, CO, TX, IL, HI : $166,000 — $184,000 USD
All other states : $149,000 — $166,000 USD
