Description
The Clinical Supervisor/Head of Service possesses and implements a basic knowledge and educational background applicable to work with individuals, groups, other disciplines, and community systems within, as well as outside the agency. The Clinical Supervisor oversees and trains the mental health staff in their day-to-day responsibilities including, but not limited to clinical work, documentation, teamwork, and administrative duties. Working closely with the Clinical Director, QA/QI Coordinator, and STRTP Director & Administrator, the Clinical Supervisor facilitates collaboration amongst the Mental Health Program, Residential Program, and resources within the community. This position is responsible for the effective implementation of the agency's program statement, policies, and procedures for STRTP Mental Health services according to the standards of State Licensing (CCL), Council on Accreditation (COA), DCFS, DMH, and other regulatory bodies.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Responsible for the direct clinical supervision of the STRTP mental health staff
- Spends at least two hours, three days a week, at each assigned facility
- Meets weekly with assigned therapists for BBS individual and/or group clinical supervision
- Assumes primary, hands-on, and integrative role of training new therapists (in conjunction with the QA/QI Clinical Coordinator)
- Provides consultation and assists in the formulation and implementation of individualized treatment plans, services, and interventions to meet the needs of the residents and families from intake through discharge
- Ensures/reinforces that strengths-based, trauma-informed, culturally responsive and client and family-centered approaches following the Core Practice Model are being utilized
- Works collaboratively with the Clinical Director, STRTP Director and STRTP Administrator in Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the STRTP mental health program including attending groups, coaching/trainings, and treatment team meetings weekly
- Provides clinical guidance and direct training to staff. In-service topics will vary but will be assigned based on specific areas of expertise or areas of interest.
- Participates in case consultations, crisis interventions, CFT meetings, and team buildings as needed
- During therapists extended absences, covers clinical issues and groups for assigned programs
- Tracks and reviews DMH documentation for completeness, accuracy and timeliness, returning for corrections as needed
- Performs administrative supervisory duties including evaluating supervisees on a timely basis, including disciplinary actions.
- Assist in the hiring of STRTP mental health staff
- Attends and participates in mandatory training and in-services, maintaining mandatory training hours as outlined by CCL and/or DMH
- Participates in the clinical on-call rotation to provide crisis intervention to clients served by the agency
- Oversee peer chart reviews; Conducts chart reviews routinely and upon discharging/closing out a chart from the program
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) (2 years post -licensure required) with prior clinical and administrative supervisory experience preferred
- Training in Supervision Practices as specified by the Board of Behavioral Sciences
- Experience working in a residential setting and/or with at-risk adolescent population
- Must be licensed and in good standing with the BBS or BOP and maintain licensure as condition of employment
- Training in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Seeking Safety, and/or other Evidence-Based Practices is highly desirable
- Pre-employment criminal and background clearance
- Possession of a valid California driver’s license
- A thorough understanding of the clinical needs of traumatized children and their families
- Familiar with the dynamics of co-occurring disorders
- Experience providing mental health services to the CSEC (Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children) population is highly desired
- Experience providing mental health services to the LGBTQ population is highly desired
- Experience in a similar setting or with a similar resident population
- Experience with L.A. County Department of Mental Health documentation standards is highly desired
- Familiar with navigating an EHRS (Electronic Health Records System) such as EXYM
- Familiar with DCFS mandates and contract obligations in delivery of STRTP services and treatment plans highly desired
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary treatment team
- Excellent communication and written skills
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Ability to meet multiple deadlines and work well under pressure
Hours:
Monday-Friday; 9am-5pm
24/7 availability to program staff and residents to address crisis events.
