A growing leader in electrical construction contracting is seeking an Controller to oversee financial operations across multiple locations. This role will support the Birmingham, AL branch while also managing financial oversight for controllers in Central Florida, Sarasota, and Huntsville. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project accounting, construction finance, and GAAP compliance, and will act as a key business partner to leadership.

Controller Responsibilities

• Oversee financial operations for multiple branches, ensuring accuracy and compliance
• Manage month-end reporting and financial close processes
• Provide financial analysis and strategic insights to leadership
• Assist in project accounting and ensure accurate schedule of values tracking
• Supervise and review work from local controllers
• Conduct site visits to ensure financial best practices
• Collaborate with senior leadership, acting as a business partner to the VP and CFO
• Assist with the transition to a more robust financial system in the future
  
  

Controller Requirements

• 5 years of accounting experience with construction industry experience required
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting and project-based accounting
• Experience working with a schedule of values
• Proficiency in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
• Ability to travel 10-15% of the time for site visits
• CPA preferred
