Divisional Merchandise Manager Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of buyers, ensuring strategic alignment across product categories
- Oversee merchandise planning, category management, and buying programs for apparel, footwear, and accessories
- Evaluate inventory levels, sales trends, and vendor partnerships to maximize profitability
- Work closely with vendors to negotiate terms and maintain optimal replenishment strategies
- Conduct regular in-person vendor meetings to optimize product selection and sizing strategies
- Develop seasonal product assortments, ensuring alignment with customer preferences and sales goals
- Strategically plan purchasing cycles to ensure proper inventory for peak seasons
- Analyze regional trends and consumer behavior across multiple locations to drive buying decisions
- Collaborate with internal teams to maintain ERP systems and ensure data accuracy
- Contribute to the company’s aggressive expansion plans, supporting the growth from 55 to 200 stores in the next five years
- 5 years of supervisory experience in retail merchandising or buying
- Proven expertise in managing buying programs, vendor negotiations, and product planning
- Strong background in retail apparel merchandising with experience in workwear or similar categories
- Experience in high-volume retail environments
- Analytical mindset with strong financial acumen to drive category profitability
- ERP system experience
- Ability to work onsite and relocate if necessary
- Experience overseeing multiple product categories in a large regional market is a plus
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills to guide a team of buyers
