Operations Manager Responsibilities
- Manage purchasing requirements and maintain supplier relationships
- Build and foster relationships with new and existing customers
- Travel locally to client sites to evaluate materials and equipment
- Oversee the entire metal recycling process, from collection and sorting to processing and resale
- Ensure recycled metals meet quality standards for resale and reuse
- Inspect and test materials, maintaining quality assurance
- Manage scrap metal inventory and coordinate shipments
- Negotiate pricing with suppliers to optimize profitability
- Coordinate logistics and transportation of materials
- Work closely with customer service reps, dispatchers, and ownership to streamline operations
- Maintain compliance with industry regulations and company policies
- Must have experience with metals, preferably in the metal recycling industry
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar general management or operational role
- Hands-on experience with the metal recycling process, including collection, sorting, shredding, cleaning, and processing
- Strong understanding of inventory management in the recycling or metals industry
- Willingness to travel weekly to customer sites
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment; must be comfortable with getting hands-on and working in an industrial setting
- Strong negotiation and customer relationship management skills
- Spanish-speaking is a plus
