Purchasing Supervisor Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage a team of 3 purchasing associates and 1 expediter
- Oversee purchasing operations, including vendor relations, purchase orders, and inventory management
- Ensure product accuracy in terms of descriptions, lead times, stock levels, and warehouse computing systems
- Develop and implement profitable purchasing strategies to enhance efficiency and fill rates
- Work cross-functionally with Sales, Merchandising, Finance, and Operations to align purchasing with company objectives
- Prioritize shipments with vendors and resolve out-of-stock issues proactively
- Continuously improve processes and document procedures for better team efficiency
- Evaluate and restructure the purchasing team as necessary to optimize performance
- Utilize Excel and AS400 for data analysis and reporting
- 5-10 years of purchasing experience in a distribution environment or relevant industry
- Supervisory/leadership experience with a track record of managing and developing teams
- Strong analytical skills, ability to work with large datasets using Excel
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills to manage vendor relationships effectively
- Highly detail-oriented with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Bachelor's degree preferred
