A leading wholesale distributor of paint, hardware, janitorial, and building supplies, is seeking a dynamic and hands-on Purchasing Supervisor to lead a team and optimize procurement processes. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is ideal for a strategic thinker who thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels in team leadership, and has a strong ability to manage vendor relationships. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for operational improvements and be a proactive problem solver.
Salary Range : $110,000 - $130,000 / year DOE
Purchasing Supervisor Responsibilities :
- Supervise and manage a team of 3 purchasing associates and 1 expediter
- Oversee purchasing operations, including vendor relations, purchase orders, and inventory management
- Ensure product accuracy in terms of descriptions, lead times, stock levels, and warehouse computing systems
- Develop and implement profitable purchasing strategies to enhance efficiency and fill rates
- Work cross-functionally with Sales, Merchandising, Finance, and Operations to align purchasing with company objectives
- Prioritize shipments with vendors and resolve out-of-stock issues proactively
- Continuously improve processes and document procedures for better team efficiency
- Evaluate and restructure the purchasing team as necessary to optimize performance
- Utilize Excel and AS400 for data analysis and reporting
