Role Description

The Junior Estimator is responsible for supporting the estimating team in preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects. This role involves analyzing project plans, reviewing specifications, obtaining quotes from suppliers, and assisting the estimating team in the bidding process. A Junior Estimator works closely with project managers, contractors, and vendors to ensure that estimates are precise and aligned with project requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in Preparing Cost Estimates: Help calculate the costs for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services needed for construction projects.
  • Review Construction Plans and Specifications: Analyze plans and project specifications to understand scope, schedule, and project requirements.
  • Material and Labor Cost Research: Gather data on material and labor costs, sourcing pricing information from suppliers and subcontractors to create accurate cost breakdowns.
  • Vendor and Subcontractor Communication: Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotes, clarify project specifications, and negotiate prices.
  • Risk and Opportunity Assessment: Help identify potential risks such as cost overruns, schedule delays, and scope changes, providing solutions to minimize impact.
  • Bid Preparation Assistance: Aid in the preparation and submission of project bids, ensuring that all project costs are considered and documented accurately.
  • Project Documentation: Maintain accurate records of estimates, quotes, contracts, and project files to support the bidding process and future project tracking.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field
  • Experience: Minimum 1-3 years experience in construction or estimating. Significant field experience is preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills, with an understanding of construction pricing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Familiarity with construction estimating software (HeavyBid and Bluebeam) desired.
  • Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Personal Qualities:
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the construction estimating field.


Salary : $90,000 - $110,000
