What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Technician position at Bove's?
Introduction: Bove’s is looking to hire a Quality Control Technician. The Quality Control Technician is expected to carry out a wide variety of tasks in support of Bove’s Safe Quality Food (SQF) program, promote food safety practices that exceed all FDA and customer requirements and encourage good manufacturing practices (GMPs). This is a key role that supports the large-scale food production of pasta sauces, pizza sauces, condiments, and salad dressings. Competitive pay based on experience.
Responsibilities: · Collect records, update logs, perform computer entry and store documents. · Assist in pre-operational and facility inspections. · Ensure daily compliance with the site’s standard operating procedures (SOPs). · Actively monitor the execution of food safety records, in real-time, throughout the workday. · Test raw materials, work-in-progress and finished products per internal CCPs. · Conduct routine line checks and product quality evaluations to confirm compliance with product specifications. · Perform equipment accuracy verifications (scales, thermometers, pH meter, etc.) · Assist with environmental testing, ATP swabs, and allergen residue testing on product and equipment. · Measure chemical concentrations and controlled storage temperatures to ensure compliance. · Collect and prepare samples for shipment. · Maintain shelf-life program - verify retains, conduct and store sensory evaluation results · Identify and address known/suspected food safety or quality concerns. · Properly document and record all product and food safety information as required per internal SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures). · Work with team members to complete all other duties in accordance with SOPs, FDA Guidelines, GMPs, safety policies, etc. ·
Qualifications/Requirements: · Minimum 2 years Quality Assurance/Control experience in FDA regulated industry. · In lieu of experience, education in food science, nutrition, biology or closely related field is required. · Training or certification in HACCP/HARCP, SQF and PCQI is preferred. · Knowledge of food safety and food processing is preferred. · Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) is required. · Ability to follow all appropriate safety standards, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). · Experience with basic lab equipment to measure outputs, operating conditions, and test results. · High attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills. · Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license. · Authorization to work in the United States.
