Bow Tie Café, a charming coffeehouse/café founded in 2010 and located in the heart of Mt. Adams, is hiring a barista to ensure the highest quality of coffee, beverage and café bite service. The ideal barista will be customer-service oriented, a strong team player, and be familiar with industry best practices.
Job Description:
· Greeting customers in a friendly manner and taking beverage and food orders, while paying attention to detail and special requests from customers
· Preparing and serving hot and cold beverages by following recipes, ranging from simple to elaborate coffee, espresso, tea, lemonade, and other beverages
· Preparing and serving food items such as soups, sandwiches and pastries
· Answering customers’ questions about menu choices
· Promoting and recommending menu options to customers
· Receive and process payment from customers
· During the appropriate business hours, prepare and serve alcoholic beverages, including beer, wine, liquor, and cocktails to guests of legal drinking age
· Keeping the work environment sanitary and organized including all equipment, utensils, and dishes
· Clean and sanitize service and seating areas
· Ensure customer service stations are properly stocked with paper products, lids, straws, and any additional items
· Ensure brewing equipment is operating properly and report any maintenance needs
· Evaluating and modifying processes to improve efficiency and quality of service
· Working to attract new customers and expanding the menu
· Communicate customer feedback to managers
· Comply with health and safety regulations
· Perform opening and closing duties as needed for the appropriate shift
Qualifications:
· 1 year of previous work experience as a barista preferred
· Experience with brewing equipment
· Prefer availability to work mornings and afternoons during the week and have weekend availability
· Ability to work as part of a team
· Strong organization and active listening skills
· Follows directions and instructions
· Exceptional time management skills with accuracy and speed in executing tasks
· Focus on customer satisfaction and relationship building through efficient and friendly service
· Practice basic safety and sanitation procedures with respect to equipment and handling beverages and food
· Must meet state minimum age to bartend and serve alcohol (21 )
· Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
· Business hours are from 7AM to 8PM Monday through Friday, 8AM to 8PM on Saturday, and 8AM to 6PM on Sunday.
Compensation: Hourly Tips
