The Design Assistant is accountable for working with the Design and Project Teams on the design, permitting, and construction documentation of projects in the BOWA Classic Design Build (CDB) process. Job duties include, but are not limited to, performing project tasks such as assistance in development of schematic design, 3D models, material and FF&E selections, graphic presentations, and drafting of construction documents, while working closely with the Design Team Manager and Director of Architecture. - Assist in the preparation and creation of design concepts, layouts, and presentations for Interior and Exterior remodeling projects.
- Assist in Creating and modifying detailed construction drawings, floor plans, 3D Models and elevations using AutoCAD and SketchUp.
- Produce high-quality visualizations and renderings for design concepts using relevant software.
- Collaborate with Senior Designers and Architects to develop material and finish selection options for projects.
- Prepare presentation boards, mood boards, and digital presentations using Photoshop and Canva.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure project requirements are met.
- Participate in site visits, field measures utilizing LIDR technology, and assist with project coordination as needed.
- This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
- Undergraduate degree in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited university required
- Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience working in an Architectural, Interior Design or Design/Build firm
- Excels at residential design and understands the remodeling process
- Experienced and creative problem solver
- Ability to work with others and follow direction but also self-motivated and organized
- Attention to detail required as well as an open mind to process improvement
- A willingness to learn and to work
- Computer proficiencies
- AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rendering Software
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Graphic Design Capabilities (Adobe Suite - InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, CANVA)
- Understanding of local building codes and regulations.
- Experience in cabinetry/millwork design and proficiency in 20/20 software and/ or other CAD software, such as Chief Architect, is a plus!
