What are the responsibilities and job description for the DRIVER/TEACHERS AIDE position at BOWCOR INC?
Our Mission: The Special Explorers Center is dedicated to children with special needs. We strive to address the needs of the "whole" child, with the inclusion of parents or guardians and the community to ensure a dynamic, favorable outcome. Our goal is to promote continued growth by focusing on structural socialization skill training and ensuring each child develops skills at his or her own pace.
This position is within our Socialization Program, by which children are prepared to become successful members of society. This requires the learning of skills, behavior patterns, ideas, and values needed for competent functioning in the society in which a child is growing up.
Job Goal: To maintain a safe driving experience for the consumers and riders. You must respect all driving laws and safely pick up and drop off all consumers from and to their destination.
Responsibilities:
- Keep vehicles clean and maintain a disinfected vehicle
- Fill out Daily Opening and closing vehicle inspections form and consumer sign in/out sheets
- Make sure you have a first aid, water igloo and emergency supplies at all times
- Make sure and have the vehicle gassed up
- Keep miles logs of all trips
- Follow all traffic laws
- Daily communications with the Center directors
- Organize all consumer belongings
- Other duties assigned
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Must be 18 years of age
- Class B license (Preferred)
- Basic Knowledge of the city of Bakersfield
- Must have a clean driving record
- Must have completed his/her early childhood education classes with a passing grade.
- Must have at least 6 months in a licensed childcare center or similar program.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift-up to 50lbs
- Ability to handle stress and focus during distractions while driving
- Ability to grasp, bend, twist, sit, squat, and stand for long periods of time
- Be able to drive for 8 hours or more
- Repetitive use of hands, elbow, knees, and feet.
- Have good eye sight with or without reasonable accommodation
Certificates:
- CPR/First Aide (Preferred)
- Non-Crisis Intervention (Preferred not required)
- Driver’s License
