Maine School Administrative District 75 (MSAD 75) is seeking an Grade 5 Band Teacher to join our vibrant educational community. Together, we can inspire the next generation of learners and leaders.
2025-2026 School Year: The person in this role spends one full day per week at each of the five elementary schools in our district.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Create a positive and engaging learning environment for students in Band classes, including student-centered lessons based on clear learning targets, and supporting a growth mindset for learning.
- Proficiency in wind and percussion instruments, along with knowledge of teaching methodologies, technologies and curricula.
- Demonstrating strong understanding of music theory, history, and diverse musical styles.
- Modeling and guiding students in developing performance skills.
- Understanding diverse student aptitudes and learning needs, and planning programming accordingly.
- Utilizing strong organizational skills to coordinate work at five schools, and Band concerts for the entire elementary school community.
- Participating in professional development in curriculum, instruction and assessment, and collaborating with Pre-K - 12 General and Instrumental Music teachers.
- Other duties as per the Teacher Contract.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrated knowledge of the MSAD 75 Graduation Standards and Learning Goals in Visual and Performing Arts.
- Knowledge of the unique needs of elementary learners.
- Proven ability to function as a contributing member of a team.
- Current State of Maine Teacher Certification in Music Education (614).
- State of Maine background check (CHRC) authorization.
