Job Summary
The Patient Services Representative provides exceptional customer service support to both internal and external customers. This role is responsible for assisting patients with the admission and services process, reviewing insurance eligibility and financial responsibilities, and scheduling appointments.
This position involves cash handling responsibilities and assists clinical staff with their schedules and other tasks that contribute to the day-to-day functions of the department.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet, educate, and instruct patients through the admission and services process
- Verify patient information and check in patients for scheduled appointments
- Notify patients of insurance benefits and financial responsibilities
- Answer telephone calls and direct them appropriately
- Schedule patient appointments
- Manage clinical schedules and assist clinical staff as needed
- Monitor account balances, payment plans, and collection reports
- Cross-train with county client services staff and help cover county offices when requested
- Perform cash handling responsibilities and daily reconciliation of cash drawer
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Certificate or Professional License: No certificates or professional license required
- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year in an office capacity preferred; customer service experience in a healthcare setting desired
- Valid driver's license and active liability insurance
- Satisfactory results from criminal background check
