The Director of Healthcare Quality is a leadership role responsible for ensuring the highest standards of care, safety, quality, and performance improvement within a healthcare organization. This position leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality management programs across clinical and operational areas.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Strong leadership to lead, collaborate, and support high functioning sub departments within the Healthcare Quality team as well as outpatient leadership teams and other support departments.
- Build and manage a robust quality infrastructure, ensuring effective use and protection of privileged or confidential information in accordance with regulations.
- Lead the implementation of standard process improvement tools, utilizing both change management and project management strategies to drive efficiency and quality outcomes.
- Apply a holistic, patient-centered approach to care, collaborating with teams to enhance processes during care transitions for improved patient outcomes.
- Lead provider review activities, including overseeing supervision systems and conducting ongoing and focused peer reviews to ensure high-quality care delivery.
- Managing accreditation and certification processes and ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements including but not limited to: CMS, DMHA, Joint Commission, and HRSA.
- The Director will lead efforts in data collection and analysis to monitor clinical performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement evidence-based practices to drive healthcare quality at the organizational level and support a team able to drive results at the local level.
- Foster a culture of quality throughout the organization by providing leadership, training, and support to clinical and non-clinical teams, ensuring that quality metrics are met and sustained.
- Ability to initiate root cause analysis meetings when high level events occur, identifying the root cause, action items, and follow up to improvement organizational effectiveness and efficiency to reduce patient or staff safety concerns.
- Lead Quality Management program for the organization, ensuring data analysis from local leadership has trend analysis, key KPIs, and action plans to address areas for improvement. This includes organization and leadership of the Quality Management Committee meeting.
- Initiate Process Improvement strategies using a PDCA approach to determine a solution for implementation to improve patient safety and quality of care.
- Implementation of any other quality improvement project as they arise, including but not limited to value-based contract management, grant related quality activities, and Hospital Based Inpatient Psychiatric Service Measures (HBIPs) coordination.
- Lead the Safety and Risk Management (SARM) meeting, ensuring collaboration within the interdisciplinary team, with key KPIs identified and strategic initiatives for any identified areas of improvement, collaborating with the HR team and Safety Manager.
- This role also includes overseeing risk management, patient safety programs, and addressing patient care concerns through structured quality assurance processes.
- Uphold ethical standards while continuously developing professionally through ongoing learning and staying current with industry best practices.
- Any other duties, as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, medical records, nursing, public health or other health related discipline required. Master’s degree in related field preferred.
- Certificate or Professional License: Prefer certification in an HCQ related discipline, i.e. CPHQ, RHIA, RHIT, RN, LPN, CCP, etc.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a healthcare quality setting.
- Valid driver’s license and active liability insurance.
- Satisfactory results from criminal and driving record background checks
- Must be a minimum 21 years of age.
