Collaborating closely with clients, design and building Teams, you will leverage your expertise to deliver innovative and sustainable architectural solutions that inspire and engage.

Job Description
As a Project Architect or Architect, you will play a pivotal role in architectural direction and development of residential projects from concept through construction. Collaborating closely with clients, design and building Teams, you will leverage your expertise to deliver innovative and sustainable architectural solutions that inspire and engage.

The Architect works with each client to actively listen to their overall needs and generates solution-oriented designs within their budget parameter. The Architect ensures hand-offs to team members (estimators and construction managers) are timely, complete, and accurate. The Project Architect is one, albeit very important, player in a team approach to delivering exceptional homes for our clients.
Responsibilities
- Lead the plans and documentation of residential projects, including renovations (usually additions or whole house renovations) and the occasional single-family home.
- Collaborate with clients to understand project objectives, requirements, and design preferences.
- Collaborate closely with Bowers' internal interior design staff as Bowers views architecture and design (how people live and feel in the spaces) equally critical to a successful project.
- Produce conceptual sketches, detailed drawings, and 3D models using Revit.
- Collaborate with "internal consultants" from the Estimating and Production Teams so that buildability tracks with design evolution.
- Coordinate with external consultants to integrate structural, mechanical, and electrical systems into the design. Cross evaluate to identify any conflicts between MEP and building plans.
- Conduct site visits, surveys, and assessments to inform design decisions and address technical challenges. This often in collaboration with Design, Estimating and Production Teams.
- Prepare and submit permit applications in compliance with building codes and regulations.
- Prepare comprehensive Construction Documents, including complete specification details for product materials and finishes, in coordination with Design Team.
- Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and construction administration to ensure project quality and client satisfaction.
- When applicable: mentor junior staff members and provide guidance on architectural best practices and project execution.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture preferred.
- Licensed Architect in Virginia or actively pursuing licensure preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in architecture, with a proven track record of successfully delivering projects of varying scales and complexities.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD and/or other relevant design software.
- Strong understanding of building codes, zoning regulations, and construction practices in the region.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Solution oriented creative problem solver – able to identify opportunities, vet options, gain team and client consensus, and bring items to closure.
- Great client services skills - active listener to understand client needs and preferences to deliver results.
