Duties & Responsibilities

  • Intake and assessment.
  • Individual and group counseling.
  • Concrete services, entitlements and advocacy.
  • Escort clients to various appointments.
  • Documentation, record keeping and progress notes.
  • Psychosocial, treatment planning and aftercare follow-up.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings.
  • Housing placement
  • Provide emergency first aid/CPR assistance when needed. Related duties as assigned.

Hours

Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

  • Tues-Sat 9am-5:30pm; Thurs 1pm-9:30pm

Qualifications

High School Diploma required. BA preferred, Bilingual (Spanish-English) preferred. Experience working with homeless mentally ill. Outreach, entitlement, substance abuse experience helpful. CASAC preferred. Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel. CPR training certification or willingness to take training class in CPR.

  • Vaccination preferred but not required

Program Description

This 103-bed men's shelter in Brooklyn serves a population suffering from multiple issues including mental illness, substance abuse and serious medical problems. The program offers the full range of case management services as well as on-site psychiatric and medical care. It also incorporates a workforce development component for women who can benefit from this service. The Lexington Avenue Men's Residence is funded by the NYC Department of Homeless Services.
