Overview
Summary
Foreman will assist the Superintendent in providing leadership, direction and supervision of craft workers; to provide coordination in order that crafts work in a safe and productive manner. Plan, forecast, & coordinate deliverables in line with quality, cost, specifications and industry standards.
Essential Functions
• Inspect and repair boiler fittings, such as safety valves, regulators, automatic-control mechanisms, water columns, and auxiliary machines.
• Precisely aligns structures or plate sections to assemble boiler frames, tanks or vats, using plumb bobs, levels, wedges, dogs or turnbuckles.
• Hammer, flamecut, file or grind irregular edges of sections or structural parts to facilitate fitting edges together.
• Position drums and headers into supports or bolts or welds supports to the frame.
• Carefully align water tubes and connects and expands ends to drums and headers using tube expanders. Leak proof joints are obtained by bell, beading with power hammers or welding pressure vessel tube ends.
• Bolt or weld casing sections, uptakes, stacks, baffles and such fabricated parts as chutes, air heaters, fan stands, feeding tubes, catwalks, ladders, coal hoppers and safety hatch to frame, using wrench.
• Install boiler manholes, valves, gauges and feedwater connections.
• Must demonstrate proficiency in performing appropriate testing on assembled vessels, etc.
• Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
• Plan and coordinate labor requirements.
• Evaluating performance against schedule.
• Advising Superintendent of any issues, impacts, risks or potential costs (financial or time).
• Maintain and monitor company and project specific HSE plans, ensuring awareness and compliance is asserted.
• Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines.
• Monitors and reports on cost and man-hour budgets.
• Examine boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, or vats to locate defects, such as leaks, weak spots, or defective sections, so that they can be repaired.
• Inspect assembled vessels or individual components, such as tubes, fittings, valves, controls, or auxiliary mechanisms, to locate any defects.
• Collaborate with QCM to evaluate needs, troubleshoot problems, and recommend solutions.

• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures such as highways and roads.
Required Experience:
• 10 years of experience in field• NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) or equivalent certification with relevant experience.• Experience in executing, monitoring and updating of construction schedules.• Experience in adhering to, monitoring and implementing project HSE policies.
Physical Demands:
• Candidates must be able to work long hours and all shift schedules that may require up to twelve hours a day, seven days a week for extended durations.
• Candidates also must be able to work in confined spaces (18-36 inches in diameter) and be capable of climbing ladders, scaffolds, and working at heights.
• Must be able to perform work wearing personal protective equipment including but not limited to rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air purifying respirators, safety harness, FRC coveralls, hard hat, ear plugs and safety glasses, etc.
• Respiratory Protection Fit-Testing and Pulmonary Function Testing is required. Additional medical examinations, such as Pre-employment physicals exams may be required per client guidelines. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is helpful.
• Candidates must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, unassisted.
• Good manual dexterity for the use of common hand tools, power tools and the ability to navigate around obstacles in a petrochemical environment is necessary.
• Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, pull: objects, materials, controls and tools.
• May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
Environmental Conditions:
• Confined spaces and working at heights.
• Exposure to loud noises, fumes, sparks, vibrations, dust, dirt, irritants and smoke may occur.
• Special Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be necessary to control some hazardous environments.
• Additional forms of PPE may be required depending on the project.
• Safety requirements must be verified and meet standards set forth by client permits, policies, and procedures, and be performed in
compliance with all federal, state and local laws or ordinances before work activities can begin.
Qualifications
Authorized Driver Requirement: Employee must have a valid driver’s license and three (3) year clean driving record. Employee must follow all Authorized Driver Policy and Procedures regarding approved vehicle usage.
All employees must pass Non-DOT pre-employment drug screening and follow all UIC Non-DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program guidelines and requirements.
If working on a DOT project, employees must pass a DOT pre-employment drug screening and follow all DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing
Program requirements.
