Job Description
Under general supervision, performs complex duties in the operation of computers and peripheral equipment to process data with emphasis on the diagnosis and resolution of operational problems.
Responsibilities

Job Description
Under general supervision, performs complex duties in the operation of computers and peripheral equipment to process data with emphasis on the diagnosis and resolution of operational problems.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct phone and on-site support for the end user assistance to the customers of the BSU Division of Information Technology. The Division of Information Technology Department provides IT support to the faculty, staff, and students of Bowie State University.
- Provides troubleshooting assistance to staff, faculty, and students in resolving computer problems and/or issues
- Supports requests for desktop computer hardware and software adds, changes and installs
- Resolves problems with desktop hardware and standard software applications. This includes computers, monitors and various devices like printers, scanners, etc.
- Helps maintain documentation on desktop systems and computer infrastructure via ticketing system
- Installs software into classroom and lab environments
- Stages newly purchased PCs and printers, including initial setup, installation of system and application software, user data migration, and basic instruction of users as needed
- Performs preventive and/or scheduled maintenance to classroom and instructional computers, staff, and faculty computers to alleviate the effects of computer virus threats
- Refreshes and/or repairs the software in each computer lab before the beginning of each semester, and verify all required computer lab software is present and tested

- High School Diploma or GED required. A or Net certification preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with networked computers or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of at least two of the three major computing platforms (Windows, Macintosh)
- Knowledge of Win 11, Win 10, O365
- Imaging, troubleshooting desktop support issues
- Strong communication skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Effective problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal skills
- Must also be able to work concurrently on multiple projects, adjust to occasional changes in priorities, and respond quickly and effectively in emergencies
