The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will support the research activities of the Bowie State University Plant Metabolomics and Hydroponics and Aquaponics laboratory, including coordinating all Plant metabolomics/Hydroponics and Aquaponics research and hands-on laboratory activities associated with Undergraduate Research Experience (REU).
The Postdoc will also participate in Endophyte research and provide needed support for the Undergraduate Research students in the lab. Key responsibilities include evaluating the metabolome and functional traits of kale/plants grown hydroponically under microgravity environment, elucidating how Simulated Microgravity affects the Photosynthetic efficiency of the Kale plants in hydroponically grown under microgravity system compared with the soil system, conducting Endophyte Research, helping in the development of a new Plant Science / Smart Agriculture Program, developing HPTLC-MS, HPTLC methods for analyzing compositional variability of plant samples, collecting plants from all over the world, processing of plant samples, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in research, compiling technical reports for publication of results in peer reviewed journals, writing grants to support plant science Laboratory, writing scientific papers from the work done, assisting the PI to run the Plant metabolomics/Hydroponics/Aquaponics lab, performing any other task assigned by the Principal Investigator (PI), mentoring undergraduate students, and performing duties as assigned by the PI, Dr Osano.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in plant metabolomics and hydroponics/aquaponics, while developing your skills in leadership and mentorship.
