Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Directional Bore Operator to join our team. The primary responsibility for this position consists of installing fiber duct, conduit and cable using directional drilling, trenching and/or pulling equipment. Ancillary responsibilities include job-site safety, utility location, construction coordination, as well as equipment mobilization and maintenance. Other duties, responsibilities, and qualifications may be required and/or assigned as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate directional drilling equipment to install underground utilities.
- Read and interpret blueprints, maps, and job specifications to determine the best drilling approach.
- Perform pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on drilling equipment.
- Monitor and adjust drilling parameters to ensure accurate bore paths.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during the drilling process.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate job activities.
- Maintain accurate records of drilling activities and equipment usage.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Directional Bore Operator.
- Proficiency in operating directional drilling equipment and related tools.
- Strong understanding of underground utility installation techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, maps, and job specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- CDL and heavy equipment operation experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
