Performance Responsibilities:
- Assist in recommendations related to staffing levels and purchase of equipment and supplies; review and revise work methods and procedures to assure efficiency, cost-effectiveness and compliance with established policies, regulations and standards of the District.
- Manage the district work order system by evaluating and responding to maintenance requests in a timely manner.
- Provide daily guidance and direction regarding employee workload, job assignments and priorities. Travel to District sites to evaluate work to be performed and to inspect completed work.
- Communicate with District and site administrators, faculty, parent groups and others regarding repair needs, work orders, and facility improvement projects.
- Maintain and manage District and school security systems, fire alarm systems and keep all fire prevention and fire fighting equipment in a ready condition.
- Interacts professionally with the public, vendors and District staff; maintains effective working relationships and works in cooperation with the leadership team to effectively meet District objectives.
- Service and repair all vehicles assigned to the maintenance department. Maintain adequate vehicle service records.
- Manage the inter-district courier service.
- Provides input into the development of the operating budget for the assigned area of responsibility; orders materials and supplies; assists in the monitoring and tracking of expenditures for the section. Maintains an appropriate working inventory of custodial supplies and maintenance supplies.
- Manages the Districts Energy Management System, which includes site monitoring, policy decision making, and cost reduction guidance.
- Provide the Superintendent with timely progress reports regarding departmental matters.
- Maintain, approve, and review department transactions which are not limited to yet include employee timesheets, overtime, vacation requests, and purchase order requests.
- Develops, interprets and implements policies and procedures; evaluates staff and makes hiring and termination recommendations; ensures that staff are trained and crossed-trained in applicable maintenance activities and are following standard operating procedures.
- Maintain asbestos management plan to updates as necessary.
- Analyze, modify and modernize work methods, procedures and equipment to increase efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Analyze project plans and maintenance needs, determine, schedule and coordinate work to be performed by outside firms; research, select and approve the purchasing of equipment and supplies within established limitations.
- Consult and advise in regard to alteration of existing structures; work with architects, school administrators and contractors on design and construction of school buildings to be remodeled, reviewing and assisting in making changes in plans and specifications.
- Provide maintenance support as needed to all athletic events. Support may include field preparation, grounds and site clean-up, and equipment maintenance.
- Perform duties in a manner that is consistent with the District philosophy of service to students, parents and the community.
- Serve as manager of central office facilities.
- Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations by interacting effectively with and demonstrating respect for the views, rights and contributions of parents, teachers and other school personnel.
- Maintain appropriate professional appearance.
- Act as a consistent positive public relations agent for school and district programs and activities.
- Maintain confidentiality of information regarding individual students and their families.
- Implement and adhere to all rules and regulations, policies, administrative guidelines, and directives as adopted by the Board of Education, Principal, Administrative Staff, Superintendent and School Based Decision Making Council.
- Maintain acceptable personal attendance without repeated unexcused absences, tardiness, absences without notification, or abuse of sick leave.
