What are the responsibilities and job description for the WTP6 - Assistant Chief Chemist - WTP position at Bowling Green Municipal Utilities?
BGMU is accepting applications for Assistant Chief Chemist at our recently renovated Water Treatment Plant through Friday February 21 2025. This fulltime position will assist the Chief Chemist in the water laboratory with the performance of lab testing equipment calibration inventory control record keeping and repairs in accordance with Federal and State guidelines and regulations. Other essential duties include :
- Collects and analyzes samples from the distribution system the treatment plant and other areas as needed.
- Maintains records; orders and maintains supply inventory.
- Performs office and field work when necessary.
- Assists in the maintenance and upkeep of laboratory equipment.
- Interacts with Kentucky Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet representatives to coordinate sampling activities.
- Performs laboratory procedures needed for bacteriological certification through KY EPPC.
- Demonstrates proficiency in use and implementation of safety equipment and procedures.
- Performs other related work as required.
- Attends seminars conferences workshops and classes and reviews professional literature to maintain knowledge of trends and developments in the wastewater treatment industry.
- Additional work and / or training outside normal work hours may be required.

Skills and Other Attributes : Requires general knowledge of EPAapproved laboratory methods used in the analysis of water samples and ability to interpret test results. Requires the ability to learn federal and state regulations and standards regarding operation of water treatment plants. Must be able to work independently follow a work schedule communicate well and have adequate mathematical skills.

Certifications & Licensing Requirements : Valid Kentucky Drivers License. First Aid & CPR. Ability to obtain certification for Drinking Water Microbiological Laboratories within one (1) year.
