Description/Job Summary
BGMU is accepting applications for Maintenance Technician through Friday, March 29, 2024. This full-time position performs preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance on equipment and systems within the Water/Wastewater Division. The position will be scheduled to work Monday through Friday from 7:30a to 4:30p, with a rotating on-call requirement. The job is classified as “Heavy” due to the physical requirements, and the candidate must successfully pass BGMU’s physical demands testing.
The Maintenance Technician inspects and monitors mechanical operations and adjusts equipment to provide maximum operational efficiency, utilizing a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for documentation of maintenance performed. Essential duties include:
- Works independently on maintenance activities.
- Performs routine preventive and predictive maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems.
- Performs or assists in performing corrective maintenance procedures as assigned. Troubleshoots systems and performs diagnostic evaluations of equipment to optimize performance, extend equipment life, and identify potential equipment failure.
- Familiar with basic electrical circuits, system grounding, safe electrical operation, basic troubleshooting of pump station and plant electrical panels, able to adjust and program basic pump station controls and SCADA functions.
- Must have good mechanical skills focusing on pumps, motors, seals, bearings, piping, etc.
- Data entry of daily maintenance events and retrieval of equipment history using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Assists in keeping accurate, up-to-date inventory through CMMS.
- Attends seminars, conferences, workshops and classes, and reviews professional literature to maintain knowledge of trends and developments in the maintenance field.
- Additional work and/or training outside normal work hours may be required.
Other Skills and Attrubutes: Requires a basic knowledge of hand and electrical tools and mechanics. Must have good mechanical skills focusing on pumps, motors, seals, bearings, piping, and other equipment used in treatment, distribution and collection of water. This includes knowledge of pneumatic and pumping system schematics. Knowledge of most electrical and SCADA system components and functions. Must be able to utilize electrical and mechanical blueprints, understand PLC logic programs for pumps and motors including on/off functions, programming, and parameter set up. Must be able to receive and carry out instructions and maintain effective working relationships with maintenance team members, operations personnel, and supervisors. Must have knowledge of required safety procedures and MSDS requirements.

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or graduate equivalency.
- Two (2) years of maintenance experience.
- Must successfully pass BGMU's physical demands testing.
- Medical Examiner Certificate required prior to employment.
- First Aid and CPR certificates within one (1) year of employment.
- Warren County, KY residency is required within six (6) months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Seven (7) years of electrical and mechnical experience.
